How To Make a Healthy Mixed Berry Smoothie

HEALTHY MIXED BERRY SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS
To make this smoothie, you will need:
- MIXED BERRIES: blueberries, raspberries, strawberries. I like to buy a bag of mixed frozen berries for my healthy berry smoothie, that way I don’t have to add ice cubes.
- BANANA: It doesn’t need to be a ripe banana, I like to use up my almost brown bananas in these. Freezing them first is my preferred method.
- GREENS: baby spinach, kale, or whatever extra greens you have lying around
- YOGURT: plain greek yogurt is best, but vanilla greek yogurt would be good too
- MILK: raw milk, almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, oat milk, whatever your milk of choice is
- SEEDS: chia seeds, hemp seeds, or ground flax seeds
- HONEY: raw, local honey or maple syrup
HOW TO MAKE A HEALTHY MIXED BERRY SMOOTHIE
To make this healthy mixed berry smoothie, simply:
STEP 1: Place all ingredients into a blender (liquid ingredients first).

Mixed Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mixed berries
- 1/2 banana
- 1 cup mixed greens
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1.5 cups milk
- 1 tbsp ground flax seed
- 1 tbsp honey

ADDITIONAL SMOOTHIE MAKING TIPS
ADD PROTEIN:
When I don’t have time to make breakfast, I add extra protein powder to this smoothie. I love that I can’t taste the protein powder, I just buy unflavored for this. I know it’s there because it keeps me full until lunchtime.
USE FROZEN FRUIT:
I like to use frozen fruit instead of fresh fruit in my smoothies. I just buy the frozen mixed berries in the frozen section of my grocery store. Unless I have fresh berries that are going bad, in that case, I will just throw that in the freezer to add to my smoothies later.
EXTRA SMOOTHIE LEFTOVER?
If you have some leftover smoothie, you can put it in the fridge for later. Just make sure to give it a good stir before drinking it.
BEST BLENDER FOR MAKING SMOOTHIES?
You need a good blender. I love my ninja. I have had it about 6 years now and it’s still going strong. Instead of having to pull out the big blender every time, I can use the individual cups. So much simpler.
PREMAKE SMOOTHIE PACKS:
I like to fill up a bunch of Ziploc freezer quart bags full of ingredients to make quick smoothies anytime. I add frozen mixed berries, half a frozen banana, and frozen greens. Then when it’s time to make the smoothie, just dump the bag in and add your liquid. This is great for when you only want to make single smoothies. Another mom hack: I like to give this job of filling the freezer bag to my 4-year-old. She loves to create, and this job makes her feel important. This helps make it a super quick breakfast.
HEALTHY FATS:
Add peanut butter, almond butter, avocado, or any other healthy fat you love.
JUICE:
Another option would be to add pineapple juice or orange juice.
