- 1 1/3 cup natural peanut butter – check the ingredients on your peanut butter. Peanuts and salt should be all you see. You could also substitute with almond butter.
- 1/3 cup raw honey – maple syrup could also be used
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp coconut oil (melted) – I buy my coconut oil in larger quantities now from Azure Standard
- 2 1/4 cup oats (rolled) – I buy my oats in bulk now from Azure Standard
- 1/8 cup chia seed
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut flakes (separated)
Healthy Chocolate Coconut Balls Directions
Gather your ingredients.
Mix together peanut butter, raw honey, cocoa powder, and melted coconut into a large bowl.
In a separate small bowl, combine oats, chia seeds, salt, and 1/4 cup of the shredded coconut.
Add the peanut butter mixture to the oat mixture and fully mix it together.
Roll into individual ball form.
Roll healthy chocolate coconut energy balls into the rest of the shredded coconut. Tip: keep extra shredded coconut out until the end of making this. You might need more depending on the size of your balls.
Place energy balls on baking sheet (use parchment paper for easy clean up) and refrigerate for an hour. Or, be a rebel and eat one right away like my daughter did here.

These treats are perfect healthy snacks to have prepped for a quick bite, especially if you are into clean eating. After school snack, after a workout, or even just when you feel the need for a little chocolate! Keep some in your freezer to just grab from time to time.
Since making this originally, I have adapted a few things. Every time I make these now, I add unflavored protein powder to the mix. I like to use the unflavored because well, obviously, it doesn’t mess with the taste.
These are a great snack to get the kids in the kitchen. It’s messy to make, but in a good way because they can lick their fingers when all is said and done! However, this is easy enough that they really can’t mess it up. Even if the measurements are way off. I made a post of real food snack options for on the go, in case you need more ideas for your kids or yourself while you are running around.
