Baked Beans with Bacon
Baked beans with bacon is a side dish that just screams summer. That’s why I love making this when we have BBQ ribs every 4th of July. Truly though, this dish is great all year long! If you decide to bring this dish to your next potluck, I guarantee you will be coming home with an empty dish, so be sure to make two!
How to make baked beans with bacon
To make this simple baked beans recipe start by frying the bacon. Remove the bacon from the pan and crumble. Be sure to leave some bacon grease in the pan because the next step is to saute the onion in it.
After your onion is softened, grab your casserole dish because it’s go time! Pour in the beans, molasses, sugar, bacon, and onion. Mix it up and cook for 45 minutes.
Can you make life easier for me?
If you want to make your life a bit easier for the day you are actually going to eat this, you can pre make it. Which is what I do every time. Instead of throwing it in the oven after mixing, I will throw it in the fridge. Then when you are ready to cook it, you don’t have to worry about dirtying up the kitchen before your guests arrive!
This recipe also works in the crockpot, which is really nice for summer time when you don’t want to heat up your house. Cook on low for about 4-6 hours. Once again though, you can prep everything ahead of time and just keep in the fridge before placing it onto your crockpot.
So easy! Now, get to it!
