Mouthwatering Sourdough Breakfast Sandwich Recipe
This sourdough breakfast sandwich recipe is made with sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiched between sourdough english muffins. It’s the ultimate breakfast sandwich.

When taking a bite of a fresh sourdough breakfast sandwich, the best part is when the runny yolk oozes out onto the slice of cheese and sausage. A sourdough breakfast sandwich is a hearty breakfast sandwich that will keep you full until lunch. The sourdough english muffins are packed full of whole grains, the meat and eggs provide more protein, and the cheese provides fat. Mixed all together, this great sandwich is maybe the best way to start the whole family off for the day. Enjoy with a glass of raw milk and get all that good bacteria going in your gut.
Tips for Sourdough Breakfast Sandwiches
This sourdough breakfast sandwich is totally customizable. Don’t like sausage? Use ham. Get creative. Incorporate yesterday’s leftovers. Did you have salmon for dinner yesterday? Try throwing that on there! Sky is the limit here.
If you pre-make the ingredients, this breakfast sandwich can come together within a few minutes which is great for those fast-paced mornings with all the kids heading in every direction. However, it is also the perfect way to spend the morning making a slow breakfast with those kids when you have some time to slow down and enjoy the day.
If you haven’t jumped on the sourdough bandwagon yet, what are you waiting for?! It is a healthier choice for eating grains. Lots of people who are sensitive to gluten (not celiacs though) can tolerate sourdough products, due to the fermentation of the grains. The phytic acid breaks down during the fermentation process and allows your body to soak up the nutrients easier. Creating a sourdough starter is something that everyone should do. How To Make a Sourdough Breakfast Sandwich
Before making a sourdough breakfast sandwich, you need to have sourdough english muffins on hand.
Prepare the english muffins: For a full step by step guide on how to make sourdough english muffins go here.
Prepare the eggs: Fry up over-easy eggs or sunny side up eggs.
Cook the Meat: Either cook up a sausage patty or fry a few slices of bacon.

Assemble: Top each English muffin half with cheese.

Put meat on top of cheese.

Top with egg and other half of english muffin.

Eat: Heat the sandwiches at 350 degrees for a couple of minutes if your cheese didn’t get melted from the meat.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze for up to one month.
Freezing Sourdough Breakfast Sandwiches
If wanting to make a huge batch of these sourdough breakfast sandwiches for the freezer, I suggest baking eggs in the oven.

To make fluffy eggs: Whisk 12 eggs, milk, and salt and pour the egg mixture into a greased 9×13 pan. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or just until the center is set. When baking the eggs, make sure not to over-cook them! You want the center to be just barely set. The eggs will get cooked more when the breakfast sandwiches are reheated, so we want their texture to still be good, and not overcooked. Allow the eggs to cool and cut them into 12 squares.
After assembling, wrap each sandwich individually in wax paper, parchment paper, or tinfoil and place them in a freezer safe resealable bag. Freeze for up to 1 month.

How to reheat frozen breakfast sandwiches:
Remove the plastic wrap and wrap the sandwich in a paper towel. Microwave for 1 minute. Flip the sandwich over and microwave for 30 seconds or until warmed through. You could also reheat these freezer breakfast sandwiches in an oven.
