Next week is the 4th of July. We all love to play outside, have fun, and have a good meal. That’s why this meal is perfect for the fourth of July. You prep ahead of time and get to spend time with the people around you instead of in the kitchen all day. Plus, this meal just screams summer.
Your 4th of July meal
BBQ ribs, baked beans, corn on the cob, coleslaw, and if you are feeling frisky, make some mashed potatoes & gravy too! We don’t make dessert because people are usually pretty stuffed after this meal. However, feel free to make a pie or cookies! To get the recipes, just click the name of the food at the beginning of this paragraph. You can also go check out my YouTube page to see videos of me making the items!
Prep ahead of time
The day or two before you eat this meal, you are going to want to make the things. Two days ahead of time, you can make the coleslaw. One day ahead of time, you can make the baked beans and marinade the the ribs. You can also make the BBQ sauce the day before, too . Just keep it in the fridge until it’s time to brush on your ribs. The corn on the cob will be made in the crockpot the morning of the day you choose to eat.
If you are going to make the mashed potatoes and gravy, making them in an instant pot is the best! Just peel and cut up the potatoes the day before, then cover them in water in the instant pot bowl and leave them in the fridge. Afterwards, when you are ready to make, just dump out the old water and put in a cup or two of chicken broth, add your garlic, and start it up!
